I did a prev landlady's work for them - arranged all the tradespeople, transformed the garden etc. I'm as long term as poss so it saves LL having to do renovation and regularly search for new tenants. I do have savings to pay 6 mths in advance in lieu of a guarantor but agencies won't accept it. I've always rented by meeting the owner in person and I can't find any of those now. I can't rent through agents at all (no guarantor) they put up a huge barrier. You sound like a decent landlord who actually cares about your property, shame I'm not better off or I'd contact you to go on the 'waiting list' for it. If I was privileged enough to own a huge flat like the one I live in, I'd be making an effort to prevent it completely disintegrating! I care far more about my current flat than the owner does 🙄 I'm a mature tenant who will look after a place as if it's my own. It sounds like my IDEAL flat but I couldn't afford that much on my own. Anyone with knowledge of the local rental market able to tell me if this is doable? My medical is this week so I'll know for sure then, and would need to have found somewhere by mid September. I can see lots of options browsing rightmove that look to tick all boxes, but will they be difficult for me to secure? So I wanted to ask, just how bad is it? I'm looking for a small one bedroom place, a maximum of 45min bike ride from the city centre (maybe an hour if I have to), with a budget of around £1000 pm. However after reading another post on here suggesting the rental market in Bristol is currently so bad, it's virtually impossible to get a viewing, I'm suddenly quite concerned about the logistics of this. I am on the verge of getting what would be a massive career opportunity, with a big increase in pay and much more scope for development, (I've got a conditional offer, just need to pass a medical), but I will need to relocate to Bristol from another area of the country.
